Stage 2: Sketch Design
This is a fun and fast pace time of the project when we agree on the design direction for your project. We like to work closely with you during this time to ensure we accommodate all your requirements and the design is progressing as you envisioned.
So what’s involved?
+ Having obtained your approval to proceed, we commence the design.
Feel free during this period to get in touch with us as often as you like! We are always happy to hear from you and hear your thoughts for your project.
+ Preliminary design options (usually hand drawn sketches) are developed that take into account your site, planning regulations, your budget, and your functional requirements. A preliminary selection of materials is also compiled that respond to your vision for your project.
+ Once the design options are ready, we arrange to meet with you to review these and to gain your feedback. Some clients immediately select one of the options, while others like certain parts of each of the schemes and prefer to move forward with a hybrid design that includes concepts from each of the proposals.
+ Having received your feedback, preliminary architectural drawings (plans / elevations) of your preferred design option are drawn and presented for your approval.
Other Services
+ During sketch design phase we usually meet with, and tender for consultant services (structural engineer / building surveyor etc) as required for your project; assisting you with their selection and appointment as required.
+ Many clients also request 3D views of the design be modelled during this phase to get a better understanding of the look and feel of their project. We are happy to offer these for an additional cost to ensure the client only pays for what they require.
So what’s next?
+ Having obtained your approval to proceed, we move forward into detailed design.
…what’s detailed design? Find out in our next Post.
